Critical Illness Cover

Critical Illness Insurance is a policy that protects you if you become critically or terminally ill. If you do, it pays out a tax-free lump sum which you can use however you see fit.

Critical Illness cover can give you peace of mind and help you maintain your financial commitments if you are unable to work. It can also provide money just when you need it most, for private treatment, to improve your living conditions while you are ill, or to enhance your lifestyle while you can still enjoy life.

If you become seriously ill, you have enough to worry about without thinking about your finances

For critical illness cover we work with leading insurers:

Each of our trusted partners has a list of conditions they will and will not cover under the policy. We also have access to other providers if necessary, and for international clients we usually recommend Unisure.

Do I Need It?

Life can sometimes take an unexpected turn, and nobody knows just what is around the corner. Critical illnesses can affect anyone, at any age. However, you can make sure you’re prepared financially if you lose your health. If you and/or your family rely on an income coming in, you need critical illness cover unless employers’ sick pay or government benefits will cover all your outgoings.

If you're diagnosed with a critical illness such as cancer for example, critical illness cover’s lump sum can help with your and your family's finances while you recover. Some policies can cover you for serious (but not critical) conditions that can also impact your finances, and some life insurance policies can include (or can be enhanced to include) critical illness cover.

Without Critical Illness cover, you may be unable to work and meet your financial commitments and living costs. Not all employers offer sufficient sick pay, and government benefits rarely cover all your outgoings. Stress, anxiety and worry all impact our health negatively, and appropriate cover can alleviate at least one aspect of your life.

What Is Covered

Your cover payment is triggered by diagnosis and/or treatment of one of the conditions covered by your policy. These vary according to the insurer.

Your cover amount is paid out in full, but your policy will then come to an end.

Some insurers also cover early stages of some conditions, giving a partial payout when you are diagnosed or placed on an NHS waiting list for treatment. If this is the case, you do not need to wait until you have surgery or develop permanent symptoms to receive a payment. This can be very helpful if you wish to get private medical treatment, rather than waiting for the NHS.

What Is Not Covered

Being diagnosed with an illness or condition not listed in the policy.

Some insurers require you to survive a certain number of days after treatment in order to receive the policy payment.

From individual life policies to specialist business cover, we have products to suit your every need.
